Kopimism

Kopimism is based on a few basic axioms, which in turn can be traced back to our strong defense of the intrinsic value of information, We ascribe this value to all information irrespective of its content. Since information and its intrinsic value are so sacred, Kopimists recognize the following axioms:

Copying of information is ethically right.

Dissemination of information is ethically right.

Copymixing (copying and/or remixing) is a sacred kind of copying, more so than the perfect digital copying, because it expands and enhances the existing wealth of information.

Copying or remixing information communicated by another person is seen as an act of respect and a strong expression of acceptance and Kopimistic faith.

The Internet is holy.

Code is law.

You do not need to change anything when becoming a kopimist. Stay believing in whatever you believe in, whether it is in God, Jesus, Moses, Muhammad or anyone else. We are not a religion that provides "all" the morality a person needs. Your morals come from you and/or whatever God you believe in.

Philosophy

Copying is a sacred activity. Copying accurate knowledge, in a variety of formats, for the purposes of education helps the world. My ideal future is one where I own a library of all the books ever written that anyone, poor or rich, can access at the push of a button for no cost.

It is important to note that, I personally believe that knowledge is sacred. The ability to reproduce the information one possesses is sacred.
If you are thinking of joining the temple/church, you should read our values, as well as the first half of the Constitution in whatever language you prefer. If you agree with the mission of the temple/church and the values we hold sacred, you can immediately start calling yourself a Kopimist! If you would like to formalize your membership with the temple/church, first you should copy one of the Kopimi pyramid images from http://www.kopimi.com/ and then register with us using the form

Worship through meditation is sufficient to be considered part of the Kopimist community. A person who identifies with our philosophy, whether formally registered with the Temple/Church of Kopimism or not, is considered a Kopimist.

Kopimism is a religion, one might even define it as a cause. Like most religions, Kopimism is against stealing. With respect to information, Kopimism disagrees with many copyright holders usage of the word "stealing". We wish for the creators of content to receive due credit for the information they create, as is done in academia. We also believe that creators and owners of content have the right to sell their content.

Kopimists are interested in everyone's sacred right to reproduce and distribute information. Copyrighted content, or patents, conflict with these beliefs. These legal instruments, when applied to content or invention, insist that information, digital or tangible, cannot be copied or distributed respectively.

Our issue with content owners occurs once a copy of the content is distributed to the user. We believe that this copy, once in the users possession, belongs to the user and that the user can copy and distribute this information at his or her discretion (with due credit where credit applies). An example of this would be a recipe in a cook book. Say there is a cook book for sale at a book store and someone sees a recipe on page 8. Kopimists believe that the reader of the book does not need to get permission from the author of the book to give this recipe to a friend. Furthermore, if my grandmother has an old family recipe that is exactly the same as a recipe on page 11 in the same book, a kopimist does not believe my grandmother would be guilty of copyright/patent infringement.

Kopimism also takes issue with many things that are copyrighted. We do not believe that the number one can be copyrighted, or the number two, ad nauseum. Most people inherently believe the same about all numbers, or even mathematics, when presented to them in this way. This Kopimist belief causes issue with owners of digital content. All digital content, i.e., mp3s, pdf's, avi's, etc, exist on a computer as a single integer. You could give me a digital copy of any file such as an mp3 of Mozart's Cello Sonata in D Major performed by Yo Yo Ma, and I could show you a single number, in a text editor or on paper, that would be considered protected by the copyright holder of Yo Yo Ma's music. Any digital file can be converted back and forth to its corresponding integer. Furthermore there are many integers, hundreds of thousands, that your computer would read as Yo Yo Ma's music.

In short, many digital content owners believe that a number can be owned. Even though Kopimists believe that information, i.e., personal information, can be keep secret and that authors have the right to sell the books they write, we fundamentally disagree that this type of (digital) ownership can be held over the integers.

United Jewish Appeal Sponsors Torture

United Jewish Appeal Sponsors Torture
by mazanga,  UnPromisedLand channel editor

Jerusalem, 15 December 2011 -- R. David Weisskopf filed a $20 million lawsuit against the United Jewish Appeal yesterday in U.S. Federal Court. (Case No. 6:11-CV-668) The lawsuit alleges the United Jewish Appeal donated over one billion dollars to anti-father lobbyists such as Bar Ilan University’s “Rackman Institute” which aggressively pressures the Israeli Knesset to revive Social Darwinian laws against fathers.
Bar Ilan’s “Rackman Institute” sponsors conferences in which judges and social workers get "educated" about the benefits of visitation refusals, and encouraged to tear children away from fathers and break up family units.  According to the Coalition for Children and the Family in Israel, Bar Ilan’s findings are not based on any modern research which measures up to post-Social Darwin academic standards.

The complaint also identifies the Shiluv Institute as a recipient of funds from the United Jewish Appeal.  Shiluv Institute hires court-appointed social workers to provide “family therapy” as a pay-off for preferential treatment from city hall.  One Shiluv social worker who came out of Bar Ilan submitted false reports against Weisskopf to court in an effort to sever his parental rights.  In the process, this social worker destroyed Weisskopf’s career in child welfare and seriously traumatized his children.

One out of 75 divorced fathers commits suicide each year in Israel according to data from the Ministry of Welfare and the Ministry of Health’s 2011 suicide report. Israel’s overall suicide rate is 1 in 20,000.
Internationally, the second highest suicide rate reported among men is 1 out of 1,600 in Lithuania according to the World Health Organization.  Last week the United Nations called on Israel to immediately stop its practice of torturing fathers and their children.

Israeli social workers like the one mentioned above simply refuse to place children into the father’s custody in cases even when the mother is mentally unstable.  According to such social workers’ illogical arguments, that would pull the carpet from the psychologically instable mother.  Furthermore, it goes against the “Tender Years” presumption which Bar Ilan’s Rackman Institute has been using United Jewish Appeal funds to solidify into Israeli law for years.

In the USA this is blatant gender-bias and can be grounds to revoke the 501(c)(3) status from the United Jewish Appeal for funding violations of the human rights for fathers like this.  Their connection with institutions like Shiluv and Bar Ilan links their fundraising headquarters in New York with international crimes against humanity in Jerusalem.  Weisskopf claims this link justifies a $20 million claim per count under the Alien Tort Claims Act.

Israeli victim’s rights advocates are joining forces with the Israeli father’s rights movement to stop the flow of donations to the crusade against fathers.  Perhaps if the Internal Revenue Service were to revoke the United Jewish Appeal’s 501(c)(3) status, and more victimized fathers were to file lawsuits in the United States under the Alien Tort Claims Act; the United Jewish Appeal might finally get the message – Stop torturing our children!

Request on behalf of a single-parent family

Shalom Everyone,

I have a special request on behalf of a single-parent family we assist.  Two children live with their father who is a disabled veteran of the IDF special forces.  Since he is 100% disabled, he cannot work.  His monthly disability payments are only enough to cover rent.  He cannot afford to buy groceries for his children.

This is one of many single-father households that fall between the cracks of Israeli welfare.  Single mothers in the exact same situation receive monthly alimony, food stipends, clothing allowances and discounts in addition to their disability payments.  In 2011 the Love for Israel Relief Fund has been trying to help disabled single fathers like this man secure the same resources as disabled single mothers for their children.  To date we have not been successful.

The Love for Israel Relief Fund believes all children have a right to eat healthy meals every day – regardless of their single-parent’s gender.  Therefore, I am sending a special appeal on behalf of this needy family.  I would like to secure $250 per month in grocery vouchers for them.  These vouchers can only be used at select grocery stores to buy household goods – ensuring the donated funds get used as intended.

If you wish to contribute either a monthly or one-time gift towards this special appeal, please reply for details.  I am happy to facilitate getting grocery store vouchers to this needy family.  On behalf of the Israeli children you help – Todah!

NON Profit Organization for Medical Marijuana in Israel

A request to my internet family,

I am looking for people around the world with experience and talent to help with the various issues connected to the web presence for the NON Profit Organization for Medical Marijuana in Israel. The charity is to help the sick and needy and not for personal gain, be assured it is for a good cause.
We need artists, designers, web geeks an others to help get the new charity's web presence up and running. If you are an artist, free thinker or any of the above we can use your help with graphics, code and other issues associated with the over all internet presence that I may not be aware of or have overlooked. If you want to help, mail my Facebook account with your personal talents and what you think you can do to help the cause.

Where you live and what language you speak or what god you pray to has nothing to do with the cause or issue of medical marijuana for the sick.

This is your chance to make a difference in some ones life, take a stand for what is correct!

All suggestions and all forms of help are welcome,

mazanga
